Statement from Claude Brun:

After three and a half years serving on the boards of Seattle Triathlon Group and its predecessor, I've decided it is time for me to step down.

My involvement started in January 2023, when I joined the board of Seattle Green Lake Triathlon Group. Shortly after joining, I developed a vision for building a larger, more inclusive, and more attractive triathlon community. I worked to build support for that vision, and in July 2023, I stepped down from the board to take the lead in creating a new organization. The new organization was formed in August 2023, and I became its founding President.

The transformation from Seattle Green Lake Triathlon Group to Seattle Triathlon Group was ambitious and, as with any meaningful transformation, not without its hurdles. It required navigating different perspectives, difficult decisions, and the practical challenges of building something new while continuing to operate the existing organization.

I am particularly proud of what I contributed to: creating the new organizational structure and brand, growing membership to more than 340 members, significantly expanding member benefits, growing our brand and race partnerships, and raising the organization's profile with USA Triathlon and The IRONMAN Group. Much of this work happened behind the scenes, but it played an important role in building the organization we have today.

After my presidency ended in April 2025, I remained on the board and continued to support the organization. Now, I feel I have accomplished what I set out to do, and it is time for me to focus on other things.

While I am proud of what we accomplished, what I will remember most are the people. I am grateful to the board members, volunteers, partners, sponsors, coaches, and members who contributed along the way and helped make this community what it is today.

I wish Seattle Triathlon Group continued success and look forward to seeing what comes next.
