Check out our event calendar to see the latest events to join us at. Now is also a great time of year to plan your race season; if you're a paid member don't forget to look through our race calendar for registration discounts and to indicate which races you're planning on doing this year.

Our most common question we get around this time of year is "when are you hosting open-water swims?" It depends a bit on how quickly the lakes warm up - we usually start hosting once the temperatures reach around 60°F. For Green Lake, this is typically around mid-late May. Our most popular GLOWS (Green Lake Open Water Swim) series is planning to return this year with early-morning sessions - which we haven't hosted in a few years! We're still looking for volunteers to host the early-season afternoon GLOWS series, but be on the lookout for these to come your way soon.

We'll still be hosting social events, educational trainings, and virtual rides and races from the comfort of your home. Read on for details...

Social activities: we've already hosted one end-of-season wrap-up at our sponsor TeKu Tavern, and hope to host events every month or two through the winter. If you're interested in coordinating an event, feel free to reach out to events@ with suggestions and offers to help coordinate. And as always, our Facebook group remains active throughout the off-season.

Educational trainings: Based on feedback from a survey we sent to our members earlier this season, team sponsor Prevail hosted a Strength Training for Triathletes session, and we hope to host more events - keep your eyes peeled on our Meetup page for these official events.

Virtual rides: A few intrepid volunteers have been hosting 3 unofficial rides per week using Zwift for the workout and Discord to chat during the ride: one on Tuesdays at 6:30pm, and for the early birds there are options on Tuesdays and Thursdays both at 5am. On the last Tuesday of the month, or normal friendly ride switches format to be a race instead. Joining us on these is a bit complex on the tech-setup side; you typically need to join Zwift, the STG Club within Zwift, and our Discord server ahead of time. When in doubt, follow our Facebook group and reach out to the ride leaders if you need help joining up.

With the weather getting warmer, we frequently get the question around this time of year: when are you going to start hosting in-person events?

For open-water swimming, we're mostly waiting for the water temperatures to rise. Our lakes take quite a bit of direct sunshine to really start warming up, so just because the weather outside is great already doesn't mean that the water will be approachable unless you're a seasoned year-round outdoor swimmer. We typically want to see the water temperature reach about 60 degrees Fahrenheit (still cold, but approachable), and historically this happens around mid-May. Look for our weekly open-water events to start around then.

Our biking events depends mostly upon the consistency of the weather - most of our events will cancel for rain, and while we've already hosted one ride in fantastic weather, it's a bit early to assume most weeks will be warm and dry. Expect these events to pick up around early May.

We don't tend to have many dedicated running events at this point, instead opting to join up with the Seattle Green Lake Running Group who hosts multiple runs per week, year-round. If you're ready to get outside for a run, you've got plenty of options already!

We're also looking for additional event hosts - if you'd like to see more frequent events, or events in your area, consider joining us an event host! The more people willing to host events, the more fun we'll have as a group this season!
